We have been serving the area east of 59 since 1972, when Lois Brown founded the business and named it after her late husband, Buster. With just a radio, a call sheet and one truck, she ran her business from her living room, skillfully managing calls and cultivating a loyal customer base.
Lois’ daughter, Jan Peterson, took over the business in 1989, moving it out of Lois’ living room to establish a proper office and successfully expanding the clientele. By 1995, her husband Mark had joined her, and together, they elevated Buster Brown to new heights, expanding its territory and its service offerings. Mark also served as president of the Texas Propane Gas Association for many years.
The growth and success that started with Lois continues with Jan and Mark’s son, Matt Peterson. He is shepherding the business as a third-generation owner, helping Buster Brown to leverage technology to enhance service for our valued customers. That includes being available 24 hours a day and keeping you informed about our products and services with our blog.
When we talk about your being our neighbors, we mean it. That extends to our longtime involvement in a wide range of community-service organizations and local events.
Our community involvement doesn’t mean simply donating money. Management and employees are involved in a wide range of services. For example, Jan Peterson is the president of Emergency Services District 7, helping to support the firefighters in New Caney and Splendora. She also serves on the board of Mission Northeast, a New Caney-based service organization that provides a wide range of assistance for people in need.
Matt Peterson serves on the board of the New Caney Municipal Utility District. He is also a preacher, hosting Bible study meetings at home with his wife, Tayra.
