The family that began Buster Brown Propane in 1972 has deep roots here in East Texas and cares deeply about its neighbors.
Our commitment to service is not only to our customers, but also to the communities we serve. That commitment shows in how involved our management and employees are in a wide range of service organizations and events.
Buster Brown’s owner Jan Peterson has been involved in multiple service organizations for decades. She is the president of Emergency Services District 7, working hard to support the firefighters of New Caney and Splendora.
Jan also serves on the board of Mission Northeast, a social-services organization that has been helping people in need in the New Caney area for close to 30 years.
Mission Northeast helps members of the community in many ways, including food assistance, disaster relief, job training, Thanksgiving and Christmas distributions of food and gifts, events for senior citizens, access to mammograms, adult education, summer learning programs for children, and helping people stay in their homes by doing tasks, including home repairs, yard cleanups, and ramp installation to improve accessibility.
Jan’s husband, Mark, served as the president of the nonprofit Texas Propane Gas Association, which supports local propane gas businesses all over the state and provides scholarships to children and grandchildren of members.
Her son, fellow-owner Matt Peterson, serves on the board of the New Caney Municipal Utility District as treasurer. He is also a preacher, holding Bible study meetings at his home.
